The ministry with the Lebanese refugees began when Israel withdrew from Lebanon in May 2000 and 7,000 Southern Lebanese Army soldiers, who were allied to the Israeli Defence Forces, had to flee, leaving behind their homes, properties and loved ones to cross the border into Israel. For 25 years, those faithful Lebanese had paid a high price to defend the northern borders of Israel from different terrorist organisations.
The ‘River of God’ Lebanese church started as a home group in Nahariya, in northern Israel, and has grown to become a congregation of 100 people, including children. We believe that these born-again Lebanese are pioneers among the Arabs in choosing to cling to the God of Israel, loving the Jewish people and Israel and praying for the peace of Jerusalem.
We also believe that the promise from Genesis 12:3, that God will bless all those who bless Abraham, is still valid. God desires to bless those precious Lebanese in return. They are not here by coincidence. They have a destiny in Israel. God has brought them to a city of refuge. The Holy Spirit is revealing Yeshua (Jesus) to them as their Lord and Messiah, and they are experiencing the fullness of the Holy Spirit. In due time, they will be sent back to Lebanon to spread a wildfire of revival for the fulfilment of Isaiah 29:17-19: In a very short time, will not Lebanon be turned into a fertile field and the fertile field seem like a forest? In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord, the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
God has promised that a revival is coming to Lebanon when all the Lebanese people will worship the God of Israel. Meanwhile, their children, who go to Jewish schools, are telling their Jewish classmates about Yeshua the Messiah of Israel and the whole world. We appreciate your prayers and support to enable us to serve these faithful Lebanese.
Ps Joseph Hadad was raised in a nominally Catholic family, and had a powerful, radical life-changing encounter with the Lord Yeshua (Jesus) in 1984. His wife, Ibtissam (Betty), is an Arabic and Hebrew worship leader. Joseph has served in ‘The house of victory’ rehab centre, and as a pastor in Haifa and Nahariya. They have also pioneered the ministry of reconciliation between the Messianic Jews and the Christian Arabs in Israel. ‘River of God’ Lebanese Church, Nahariya, PO Box 9511,
