The Yezreel (Jezreel) Valley stretches from the Jordanian border near Beit Shean past Mt Gilboa and Megiddo towards Haifa. It is well-known as the arena of the final battle of Armageddon (Har Megiddo) where the Lord will destroy His last enemies. This valley (HaEmek) has been the battleground for 19 major Israelite wars. It is the perfect setting for future battles also, providing access for an invasion from the east, as confirmed through visions and prophecy by our congregational members and intercessors.
With the establishment of our fellowship in 1994, we adopted the name ‘Kehilat Emek Yezreel’ (Jezreel Valley community) which ties us to this area and gives us spiritual responsibility for our town and valley. After some years of meeting in a public venue, we have returned to a house fellowship with English, Russian and Hebrew speakers, focusing on prophetic revelation in the Word and subsequent prayer. Although we started in 1985 as the first small house group in Afula, today there are several such groups, founded by Russian immigrants. The Milevskis’ ministry recently found favour with the town authorities who are now cooperating for projects to distribute clothing, medications and gift cards to Holocaust survivors, immigrants and Chernobyl cancer victims.
Gideon’s 300 men were chosen nearby at the Hill of Moreh and the spring of Ein Harod (Judges 7). This principle, of the Lord using a small number to gain His victory, is still reflected in the founding Scripture of our congregation: Zech 4:6 – not by might nor by power but by the Lord’s Spirit. Perhaps this is why there are no large fellowships in this Valley - the Lord plans to work through ‘300’ and receive the honour due only to Him.
In the past year, our Afula groups have begun to interact and communicate more, with the establishment of a regional monthly intercessors’ meeting initiated by local Galileans, drawing representatives from Nazareth, Tiberias, Afula and other towns. We have also been blessed lately by reinforcements from Australia and New Zealand staying at the Great Southlands House of Prayer on Mt Carmel (now Elohim House), who join us regularly for corporate intercession. This newfound move towards greater unity is the Lord’s doing as we sense impending danger, not only from the northern but also from the eastern border, and the spiritual battles need to be fought beforehand.
In 1980, Hanna Haustein and her family came to Israel from South Africa. She taught English at the local Yezreel Valley College for 26 years before her retirement in 2017.
